Zhiyu Wang is a Partner of Zimark Advisory in Tokyo and Head of Investment & Quantitative Research for Japan. He advises sponsors, corporates and growth companies on buy-side and sell-side M&A, capital formation, commercial and financial due diligence, valuation, and corporate strategy, with a focus on cross-border transactions.

He also oversees the firm's quantitative research, which covers systematic and discretionary strategies across major equity indices, commodities and FX, from intraday to lower-frequency horizons. The research spans signal development, portfolio construction and risk overlays, and supports the firm's proprietary systematic strategies.

Since founding Zimark in 2024, Zhiyu has advised more than 30 startups and new ventures, middle-market companies, family offices, and PE/VC and institutional investors. His work covers M&A advisory, consulting, and macro policy and industry research.

Before Zimark, Zhiyu worked in investment banking in New York as an M&A banker focused on TMT. He executed sell-side processes and corporate M&A work. Earlier, he held investment banking and equity research roles in New York and Hong Kong.

Examples of Zhiyu's experience under Zimark include buy-side advisory to a U.S. communications group on its majority acquisition of a digital marketing services provider, sell-side advisory in laboratory supplies, and leveraged buyout execution in U.S. retail. He has also supported post-acquisition integration for private equity–backed consumer assets in Asia and Greater China market entry for international education groups.

Zhiyu holds an M.A. in Economics from New York University, and a B.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Financial Mathematics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
